ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of the Plastic Diet Core Team, the Events Maestro will be the main mastermind and coordinator of Plastic Diet’s Community and Campaign Events. Our movement is as much about Kicking the Plastic out of Aotearoa’s Diet as it is about building a strong, social, energising community of plastic-combating warriors. We want our volunteers and supporters to change the world while having the time of their lives and getting lots of chances to bond with their fellow Plastic Dieters. This is where you, our Events Maestro, comes in! You will be working closely with our Board and Core Team to ensure a smooth process in the planning and execution of our events, ultimately providing gut-busting, team-bonding experiences for our awesome community!

 

Responsibilities of this role include events planning and coordination, logistics, social media engagement, and attending meetings with the Plastic Diet Core Team. Joining our community in this role will provide you with a unique opportunity to use your leadership potential and develop your skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Conceptualisation of Plastic Diet’s events

  • Work with the Board and Core Team to develop ideas and reach consensus around prospective social and campaign events

Events planning and coordination

  • Managing the logistical aspects of our events: budget planning in correspondence with the Treasurer and Board members, organising venues, catering, equipment and event activities

  • Ensure that events comply with organisational values, particularly around waste management and social inclusion

  • Aid in the construction of our annual events calendar

Managing our Events Team

  • Delegation of tasks and responsibilities in coordination with the Volunteer Liaison

  • Developing rosters and realistic time frames for the completion of logistical tasks

Community engagement

  • Collaborate with the Media Extraordinaire on the promotion of our events

  • Ensure timely distribution of invitations and other events related information

  • Follow up on RSVPs and concerns related to events participation and organise corrective/preventive action (eg. to increase RSVPs and engagement).
