ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of the Plastic Diet Core Team, you will be our plastic facts and solutions master. The researcher knows and enjoys the environmental sciences well and cares greatly about waste management in Auckland. With your expertise, you will play an important part in inspiring and elevating the work of our organisation, so we can continue to raise the bar for waste management in Auckland and Aotearoa!

Responsibilities of the researcher include doing background research to aid our team in the creation of infographics, proposals, campaign material and presentations.

 

THE PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A passionate environmentalist: One who believes in the sciences to formulate solutions

  • You are passionate about eliminating plastic pollution at the source

  • You like to share information and keep informed

  • You are knowledgeable about environmental issues regarding plastics

  • You are organised and enjoy keeping track of and synthesising information

  • You are able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team

  • You value transparency, integrity, accountability, collaboration, co-creation and community

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Writing up fact boards and refer to current statistics that will be used in advertising

  • Aid in strategic planning with the Core Team

  • Organising a research database covering the main areas of interest of our organisation

  • Keeping up to date with current research relevant to our cause: The issue of plastic and its solutions

 

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • General academic researching skills - undergraduate level or above is preferred

  • Organisational skills

  • IT skills: Proficient with Excel, Google Drive and relevant information databases

  • Critical thinking applied to sources of information

  • Collaborative and problem solving skills

    • Able to work with teams

    • Proactive problem solving

    • Group decision making skills
